Hi! My name is Stephen Johnston, Network Administrator and Computer Lab Manager here at The PEER Center. It’s been my pleasure to be able to bring my skills to The PEER Center to help improve our Computer Lab and focus on upgrading our technology. Throughout the past several months, we have upgraded the computers used in the Lab, which means better, faster machines for our members. We have also upgraded our network, which helps our staff to work more efficiently. By improving our efficiency, we reduce our operating costs, and that means more funds for our members and our programs. Many people are familiar with PEER Computer Care, our on-site computer repair/upgrade shop. Here is Benny Manna, our new computer technician, working on one of the many computers we have in our shop at any one time. Benny was hired to handle the day to day operations in the computer shop and is doing a fantastic job. We wouldn't be able to hande the volume of computers we have without his help!

To the right is a picture of the Computer Lab. All our Computer Lab computers are connected to the internet. Our lab computers have many programs installed to assist our members with their computing needs, such as instant messengers, word processors and typing tutorials. We also have a laser printer for printing things such as emails and resumes.

PEER Computer Care has partnered with ARC Broward, a fellow Non-Profit and director of the county's electronics recycling efforts, and developed a computer refurbishing program. We offer complete systems to the public and consumers alike for 75 dollars! Our goal is to help most everyone get a computer in thier homes, and make technology reachable to a wide variety of people who may not have been able to afford a computer before. The computer refurbishing program works only because of the donations people make. By donating your computer, you are helping a very worthwhile cause, and are indirectly giving back to the community.
